Mark Truax
Occupation Family physician for 33 years, for the past three I've also been teaching medical students in our clinic. I'm enjoying both and have no plans to retire How long have you lived in Montgomery County? 33 years. We moved to our farm along 136 East after finishing residency at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis What do you do for fun in your spare time? I enjoy my 6 grandchildren, farm chores (sheep), building and flying radio controlled airplanes ( especially WW2), and occasionally taking my Model T out for a spin- the most fun you can have going 30 mph. Tell us about your family. My wife Jane and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary this summer. She's my usual dance partner. We have 2 children Daniel and Darby, their spouses, and 6 grandchildren, all 6 and under. We're blessed that they all live close and we get to enjoy them very frequently. What song always makes you get up and dance or sing along? "Celebrate"- Kool and the Gang- always brings a smile, a tear, and fond memories. For the first ten years I delivered babies at the new Culver Hospital. A 3 AM call would prompt a rapid dash to the hospital. I'd put a tape of "Celebrate" in the tape player and sing along as I made my way to the hospital. Energy and Joy!. I was always ready to celebrate a new life by the time I arrived. Maybe I'll be greeted by a Heavenly chorus of "Celebrate". It could happen. Maybe then I'll figure out how to dance to it. What was your reaction when you were asked to be a Star? Tentative at first. But I like to reach beyond my comfort zone. It brings out the best in us. Why did you decide to participate in this Youth Service Bureau fundraiser? More than ever I see parents in my office with their troubled or in trouble teens. I try to assure them that a crisis presents an opportunity for change. Who stands with you in your crisis or dark times makes all the difference. The Youth Service Bureau provides those people Why should the public come to this event and support you and your partner? It's an enjoyable and entertaining evening. You'll be supporting a worthy cause. Who knows- it might inspire you to take up dance ( it's great couples therapy). |

What is your favorite type of music to dance to? That is a loaded question! I teach 23 different styles of dance and enjoy most of them. I am in love with Viennese Waltz but Tango is a close second. Why did you decide to participate in this Youth Service Bureau fundraiser? Well Jane is just so hard to say no to...lol. In truth my greatest desire is for my studio to give back to the community as much as possible. Jesus tracks that faith without action is dead and we want to take action with an organization that takes more action than most of us can even fathom. Thank you YSB for letting us take action with you! Why should the public come to this event and support you and your partner? To help the YSB continue to act in the lives of hundreds of children. Every single dollar you give is going to an exceptional cause and inevitably helping a young life in our very own community! Please help us to help the YSB. |
