Occupation: English Teacher and High Ability Lead Teacher at North Putnam Middle School How long have you lived in Montgomery County? I have recently moved to Parke County. What do you do for fun in your spare time? Dancing is definitely one of my favorite hobbies, along with boating, gardening, and yoga. I also love trying new recipes to cook for family. Road trips, wineries, hiking, and building Legos with my son are spare time favorites as well. Tell us about your family. I come from a farming family, and I was born and raised in Avon, IN...when there was farmland in Avon. We still have land in Parke and Putnam Counties, and we spend as much time as possible with my 92 year old grandpa on his farm, Delp Farms. I have one son named Atticus. He is ten years old and a Lego maniac. My partner, Dave Hamilton, and I recently moved to Raccoon Lake. We enjoy boating with my son and his daughter as much as possible. We also stay busy with his company, Hamilton Painting. What is your dance background? I started taking tap and jazz lessons at Mike and Carol Company in Indianapolis when I was four. After that, I was hooked, and I have danced ever since. I was a cheerleader at Avon High School and at DePauw University. After college, I became a Fabulous Flame dancer for the Arena Football Team in Indianapolis, The Indiana Firebirds. I have also coached North Putnam High School and Dance Team for several years. Most recently, I have been involved in Putnam County's Dancing with the Stars charity event since 2009. Last year was my first year being involved with Montgomery County's Dancing with the Stars, and it has been an honor. What is your favorite genre of music to dance to? I love all music! It is the background of my life. Why did you decide to participate in this Youth Service Bureau fundraiser? After being an educator for 19 years, and seeing the benefits of what the CASA program can do first-hand, I feel it is my duty to volunteer my talents this way. Plus, it is a great way to network and form friendships. Why should the public come to this event and support you and your partner? The public should come to this event, because this is a fun night of entertainment, food, auction items, and socializing. You will leave this event feeling grateful that you did your part. Not to mention, you will be entertained! Not many communities can put together such a wonderfully orchestrated fundraiser that raises thousands with your help. You don't want to miss it! |
